SPORRSMEDEN Pre-school for 110 children, Markaryd (2019-22, built)

The pre-school is developed around the unusually large open space connected with it. This generous landscape element is balanced against an elongated, low-slung building volume, topped by a significant roof. Mediating between the building volume and the open field are intermediate spaces in the form of arcades, sheltered but open to the elements. The edifice is constructed in wood, with coloured building elements. Internally, generous top-lit spaces for communal gatherings contrast with the external horisontality.
